The City of St. James reduced expenditures such as street maintenance, snow removal, charitable giving, and civic engagement to cope with its 2010 aid cuts. Capital equipment replacements have also been delayed. The city has frozen non-union employee wages and increased insurance deductibles. On the revenue side, the city’s levy will increase 1% in 2010, and residents will incur a $2.00 per resident per month fee to cover LGA cuts. The city has also reduced its reserve fund.
