The City of Mankato has reduced services including public safety, street maintenance, snow removal, library services, park and recreation programs, civic engagement, and charitable giving among other areas. As a result of the aid cuts, the city has lost 16 positions and will have 6 less public safety employees. The city has implemented a wage freeze for its union employees. Capital projects have also been reduced. On the revenue side, the city’s 2010 levy will increase 4.25% and the city has reduced its reserve fund.
