The City of Cannon Falls reduced expenditures 4.7% to cope with its 2010 aid cuts. Reductions came in areas such as civic engagement, charitable giving, and pool hours. As a result of these cuts, the city lost 1 employee position. To further reduce costs, the city has implemented a four-day furlough program for all employees. On the revenue side, the city’s levy will decrease 2% for 2010, and various fees were increased. The city received also received some money from the sale of a city owned building and from back taxes on a long vacant industrial property that was purchased. The city has also reduced its reserve fund.
